Throughout our Rock Your Research series, you’ll gain valuable insights and skills to confidently showcase your work at the Graduate Research Symposium (GRS).

Rock Your Research Series


February 12, 12 p.m.: Rock Your Research: Public Scholarship for Graduate Students – Why and How
Exploring public scholarship is presented in partnership with the Office of Public Scholarship. This workshop will delve into what public scholarship means and how it can be harnessed and utilized within your graduate research. Lunch will be provided.


February 13, 4 p.m.: Rock Your Research: Presenting Your Research with Confidence
Led by Steven Pijut from the Speaking Studio, this workshop focuses on practical tips for effectively communicating your research to a diverse audience. Bring along your research abstract, presentation outline, or research poster for specific, constructive feedback. Gain the skills and confidence you need to engage and inform effectively. Dinner will be provided.


March 3, 5 p.m.: Rock Your Research: Mastering Poster Design
Join Elizabeth Mangone, Curatorial Research Assistant at the Kemper Art Museum, for an in-depth workshop on how to design effective and visually compelling research posters. Perfect for making a strong impact at your next presentation! Dinner will be provided.


March 20, 4 p.m.: Rock Your Research Happy Hour: Feedback, Tips and Networking
If you participate in any one of our Rock Your Research Series events, you will be invited to join us for a special happy hour where students can fine-tune their presentations, network with peers, and enjoy great food. Note: You must participate in a Rock Your Research session to be invited to this event.
