The Graduate Center offers graduate students a designated place to meet, connect, and engage with each other in both formal and informal settings. During weekday open hours, students can stop in to check their e-mail, catch up on the news, meet friends for lunch, or study casually. The facility also offers a comfortable setting in which graduate students and student organizations can attend events, host meetings, and run professional development workshops.
A multi-purpose room designed for studying, relaxing and having lunch, the commons can also be arranged auditorium-style seating for groups up to 50 people or for large receptions. Equipped with a flat screen TV and projection system, the room is versatile enough for professional development workshops and interdisciplinary lectures as well as award ceremonies. Thach Commons is named for Biology Professor Bob Thach, who served as Graduate Dean of Arts & Sciences from 1993 to 2008. To reserve the Thach Commons for an event, please click here.
