The Graduate Student Senate, in collaboration with the Graduate Professional Council, Association of Graduate Engineering Students, and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, presents the 22nd Annual Graduate Research Symposium. The Symposium will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 3-6 pm with the poster session in Crowder Hall Courtyard followed by a reception and awards ceremony in Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom. The symposium is a great opportunity for Washington University graduate and professional students to present their research to a broad academic audience of non-specialists. It is a chance to develop cross-disciplinary communication skills that are necessary for grants and funding proposals, as well as fellowship and job interviews. Presenters will be matched with graduate student judges from outside the presenter's area of study; a Spanish scholar might be talking with a biomedical researcher, an economist with an engineer. Student presenters will be judged on the quality and clarity of presentations, and the ability to make their research accessible to non-specialist audiences.
How you can be involved: present a poster on your research, volunteer as a judge, or attend! Cash awards ($250, $150, and $100) will be given to the top three presenters in each of five categories: Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, and Professional Programs. Submit your abstract online at gss.wust.edu by January 31st! Please also go to the website for more information or to register as a judge. Hope to see many of Wash U's graduate and professional students at the Graduate Research Symposium!
